Back in Ancient Greece, the capitals consisted of three orders: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. The Doric was the most simple of the three, Ionic was a little more complex since it had volutes, and lastly the Corinthian order consisted of very complex floral designs with extreme detail. Contrasting with the Romanesque designs, this architecture consisted of capitals that have their own unique design without having to be in any particular order. These capitals have great similarities to the Corinthian capitals with gigantic buildings such as a church to express how solid the foundations actually are. Also with Romanesque architecture, there was lots of painting and color with sculptures throughout its architecture.
