As we discussed in class there are many differences between Romanesque and Gothic styles. One of the biggest differences between the periods was the massiveness seen in the Romanesque period, compared to the more verticality of the Gothic era. A common similarity between the two periods was the Latin Cross plan, which includes aspects such as the Nave, Transept, Choir, and Apse. Another difference that probably stood out the most to me was the buttresses, and how during the Gothic period they became flying buttresses, which brought a new aspect to the buildings.
