This picture depicts “The School of Athens” by Raphael during the Renaissance. Not only does the depiction of Athens indicate the rebirth of the Antiquity period, the figures in the fresco painting (Plato, Aristotle, Pythagoras to name a few) indicate the emphasis on human knowledge during this period. As Professor Han discussed, a key idea of the Renaissance was believing that truth can be accessed through humanity; meaning that there are universal concepts, such as divine proportions, that are synonymous with harmony and beauty and should be reflected in the architecture at the time.
