The first prominent aspect that sticks out to me is the use of tromp l’oeil. The arches in the painting give an optical illusion that there is more depth and arches than there actually are. It appears as if the painting is a part of the building and not a painting. In regard to architectural ideals of this time period, the image is focusing on the notion of divine proportions. The image is very balanced in regard to the number of people painted on each side. Additionally, there is a blatant emphasis on humans exemplified by putting them in the foreground.
