The first thing I notice in this image is a significant sense of symmetry. Geometry is another clear standout – squares and rectangles appear to be the most prominent. The semicircular arch is also in great alignment with Renaissance architecture. Lastly, the pilasters protruding from the wall can be observed in other Renaissance buildings like the ones I visited while studying in Florence. I personally find it easier to visually take these buildings in versus some of the ones we see in the Gothic period and I feel this is attributed to the symmetry and “soft” nature of the arches.
