The building on the left is the San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane found in Rome and the sculpture on the right is “David” by Bernini. These pieces are both works of the baroque style. In the “David” you can see how the sculpture is animated and seems like it is in motion. This is called contrapposto and is meant to make the art feel alive. In the Quattro Fontane, you can see many instances of ovals on the building. The use of ovals was a distinguishing characteristic of the baroque period.
