There is a mix of modern and classical elements in Labrouste’s Bibliothéque Nationale to bring out this new style that made a mark in history. We can see elements from the classical period such as columns and heavy emphasis on symmetry which provided a sense of order to the building. But he used iron for the frame and domes which gave the building this unique modern and industrial look.
