In ancient Greece the capitals were at the top of the head, and the capitals had a ton of detail. These capitals are very artistic and they are specific to their own capital. During the Byzantine period there were way more buildings being constructed. Since there were moire buildings going up there was less detail put into the capitals. There was more of a demand for workers due to the constant need for more buildings. These workers had less time to construct the capitals so in turn there was less detail than in ancient greece.
