As Ancient Greek evolved from the Doric period to the Corinthian, we saw more complexity emerge through the use of volutes and fluting in their columns. In the Romanesque period, we can see architecture became more simple while also maintaining key abstract designs like corbels and clustered columns that were most likely influenced by Roman architecture.
