Capitals in Ancient Greece were split up into the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders. The Doric capitals were very simple, Ionic were more complex and had volutes, and Corinthian had very complex floral designs. However, the Romanesque period had many different unique capitals that didn’t necessarily fit into specific categories. They were most similar to capitals from the Corinthian order.
