The capitals of Ancient Greece were implemented based off of rigid rules of architecture. Using the capitals of an order inappropriately or superposing orders incorrectly would show massive incompetency in an architect during Ancients Greece. During the Romanesque period, capitals could be used more liberally and new capital designs emerged as well. As Arches began to be used more often than collumns, the impotance and use of capitals changed.
