The main difference between the Gothic and Romanesque period is the difference in detail and size in the structures. The structures in the gothic time had a lot more detail and were smaller than the buildings in the Romanesque time. There was more of a demand for building and structures to go up in the Romanesque period, so therefore a lot less detail went into the structures, even though they were bigger.
