Week 3 Response

There are a few main differences between the Romanesque period and the Gothic Period. In particular, the Romanesque period showed off very strong and massive structures. It also included semi-circular arches, buttresses, and they used walls as opposed to columns which was common during the Gothic period. In the Gothic period there was a lot more detail. This detail included flying buttresses, ogivals, ribbed vaults, and tympanum’s to name a few examples. Also, instead of feeling strong and massive, Gothic structures felt more vertical.
