Week 3 Response

The Romanesque and Gothic styles had some similarities, but also a lot of differences. They both based their structures of a Latin cross platform, which is why most buildings look structurally similar. Romanesque churches had buttresses which thickened their walls, while Gothic had flying buttresses and focused on the verticality of their buildings. Romanesque structures also had a semi circular arch, while Gothic featured an ogival arch.
