The main difference from the Romanesque and Gothic period was the style. The romanesque architecture were more heavy/grande with big buttresses making the building to have a fortress look. While the Gothic period architectures appeared more slim and elegant with ogive arches and free flying buttress. Gothic style also had more focused on light and verticality.
