Week 3 Response

Based off what was discussed in class Romanesque feels and looks more heavy and hefty were as Gothic is more slender, tall, and light (specifically interiors). Several different features are the reason for this and two main reasons are the style of arches and the type/orientation of buttresses: Romanesque have rounded arches and buttresses that are right up against the walls while Gothic arches are pointed and have flying buttresses which mean they are extended some distance away from the main structure.
