Although Romanesque and Gothic style share many similarities, like Latin cross cathedral, there are still some variations: while in Romanesque architecture, groin ,semi-circle arch, buttress and wall-based elements are presented, offering a sense of massiveness and strength, those subject transformed into much thinner and column-based, including ribbed vault, ogival, and flying buttress, emphasizing the verticality. Also, as the refined elements in Gothic architecture are able to afford larger load with lighter material, the internal space of Gothic style is more open, and with the help of stain glass, creating a holy internal illumination
