The School of Athens represents the ideals of the Renaissance period. As stated by Professor Hans in class, the picture puts a heavy emphasis on the proportions and perspective. It makes references to significant figures such as Plato and Aristotle. Architecture during the Renaissance period takes elements from Ancient Rome and moves away from heavy ornamentations used during the Gothic period. Most importantly, the architectures follow strict proportions and patterns, which is meant to form a sense of eurythmia, also an architectural ideal presented during Ancient Rome.
