The School of Athens painting is a masterpiece and represents one of Raphael’s most prominent works during the Renaissance period. This painting resonates with the architectural ideals of the Renaissance period by displaying both balance and Eurythmia. This is clearly shown by a compositional trick to draw the viewers eye to the two central figures standing under the archway in the middle of the painting by arranging the groups of men proportionally. The arched vaults represents the revival of the ancient Rome period and by presenting two of the most ancient philosophers in the center of the painting, the viewer establishes human knowledge as a significant aspect to this piece of art.
