Both works show qualities characteristic to the Baroque period. On the left, the St Charles church has a large oval ornamentation, a common quality seen among architectures built during the Baroque period. As stated by Professor Hans in class, the Baroque oval is a mathematically derived shape seen widely among Baroque architectures. The building also puts heavy emphasis on the perspective, taking into consideration how the people passing by would view the building. The sculpture on the left has a strong focus on showing liveliness and contrapposto, both qualities seen among sculptures made during the Baroque period.
