Compare these two works

The work on the left is San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane in Rome, and the work on the right is Bernini’s “David.” Both pieces feature different baroque ideals. The facade of San Carlo features ovate, directional openings, and follows rhythm rather than proportion, a deviation from Renaissance ideals. The building has articulated subspaces, making it incredibly dynamic, “David” additionally demonstrates the evolution of sculpture because the figure is caught in motion, which shows the evolution of contrapposto in art. The decorations around the figure and detail in the figure itself contribute to the overall drama of the piece.
