Both pictures represent architecture during the Baroque period. The building on the left is the San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane by Borromini, and the statue is of David by Bernini. In the picture of the building you can see the use of ovals which was a major characteristic during this time. On the building you may also see the articulation of sub-spaces, as well as interacting special elements which were major characteristics during the Baroque. The sculpture of David is represented through movement almost like an action shot, as you can see, he is about to throw something. These “action shot” type sculptures were seen all throughout the Baroque in contrast to previous sculptures that lacked the movement element and relied more on poses.
