Statues during the baroque period showed motion in the form of wind-like appearances on the clothes that the figure was wearing. This was to add to the already very animated style that Bernini and other sculptors were trying to achieve. The Church depicted here has an ovate design, which was typical of the period. With it’s rather modest size, it was meant to show it’s grandness from a close perspective.
