The piece on the right is made from a combination of swirls which becomes important in architecture. The statue of “David” in the right was made by Bernini and it is different from the renaissance in that the statue captures motion and the facial expression, tension of muscles, and the clothing highlight this. This artistic style was then utilized in the Boroque architecture as well, as seen in the photo on the left of San Carlo Alle Quattro Fontane. The features of the buildings were not designed to be seen from far away but up close one can notice the movement and flow of th entablature…almost mimicking the artistic style seen in Bernini’s “David”.
