Both of these works were completed during the Baroque period. The building on the left is the “San Carlo alla Quattro Fontane” that was built by Borromini. The most obvious characteristic of this building that ties it to the Baroque period is the heavy use of ovals in the design. As we went from the Renaissance to the Baroque, we transitioned from a more circular pattern to a more ovate one. The statue on the right is “”David” by Bernini. The statue is an action shot of David winding up to throw a rock, and it has much more fluidity than statues of previous eras.
