Week 5 Response

The picture on the left is San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane in Rome, the picture on the right is of Bernini’s David. Both are from the Baroque period but showcase different Baroque stylistic elements. Bernini’s David is an evolution from Michaelangelo’s David as it showcases David in motion, which shows the evolution of art. The exterior of San Carlo uses less proportion and uses ovate openings, typical of the Baroque period. One thing that both of these pieces have in common is that they are both decorative and elaborate, which is one of the most important stylistic elements of the Baroque period.
