Week 5 response

The left one is the San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane in Rome by Borromini. The right one is Bernini’s David. They are respectively typical examples of Baroque architecture and sculpture. San Carlo is positioned next to a street and the layout is tight so that when people look up, there is a sense of grandeur. It makes use of ovals, both on the facade and in the compound dome,  which create directionality. The sculpture by David is vivid due to the curves used to produce a muscle definition,by the use of perspective and curvations, Bernini gave the sculpture of David a sense of movement.
