These two photos capture two Baroque works. The picture on the left is the facade of Borromini’s San Carlino in Rome. What makes San Carlino characteristically Baroque is its frequent use of ovals, articulation of sub-spaces within the main column spaces, and its elaborate decoration. Bernini’s David is characteristically Baroque because of its incorporation of motion and action. Compared to Michaelangelo’s David, Bernini’s isn’t posed and almost noble instead it is depicting David fiercely fighting Goliath.
