“Who do you side with, Didascolo or Protopiro?”
I personally side with Protopiro. he favors the more Classical Greek architecture, while Didascolo prefers more ornamentation like in the Gothic. I might be biased because I’m Greek but there is something about being on the acropolis and seeing the parthenon in person that changes the way you view architecture. I prefer the austere nature of classical Greek architecture. I also appreciate the aim for perfection and order. I believe that Piranesi’s use of ornamentation is hindering the classical roots of the architecture and there for I disagree with Didascolo.
