I side with Didascolo over Protopiro because one of the things I personally admire most about architecture is ornamentation. While I also admire looking back to antiquity and incorporating various elements, I think true individuality of the architect and the ability to innovate and add their own elements is key to defining their work and their ability to leave an impact in their field. A traditionalist mindset is looking back to the people that were “first” to do something a certain way, which does not consider the limitations they had back then due to less knowledge. That is why I think evolving and modernizing and incorporating creativity, because we now have the knowledge to do so, should be allowed and celebrated.
