Personally, I would choose to side with Didascalo over Protopiro. This is because he argues for eclecticism and decoration to distinguish buildings. I value both perspectives; however, I tend to agree with Didascalo because it’s the beautiful ornamental designs that make some buildings so special and captivate anyone who passes through. I believe that Protopiro’s argument for simplicity creates a sense of transparency in architecture. The way I interpret this is like a painting with no color. It is missing something despite whatever incredible image that may appear on the canvas, it might not appear complete until it is filled with color. Ultimately, I respect the architect’s decision to choose one over the other this is just my opinion.
