Week 6 Response

Personally, I think I side with Didascolo and his argument over Protopiro. Didascolo supports ornamentation and intricate designs on buildings, which helps build personality, beauty, and individuality. These are important to me because without detailing and ornamentation, most buildings would look the same. Furthermore, this detailing is what helps certain architecture from different places and time stand out from one another, which helps us learn about the cultures of these people and places. On the contrary, Protopiro thinks ornamentation can be an abuse of architecture, and that the true purpose of a building is to shelter people. While this is true, it is with the beauty of the architecture that helps build the culture and art of the time period.
