I side with Didascalo. I agreed that ornamentation and creativity is better than strictly following the Vitruvius rules. First, a well ornamentation architecture is more pleasing to the tastes of the public than a monotonous “hub”, as architecture should satisfy the public rather than just the cristics. Second, as architectures strictly follow rules to extremes, they might even lose some functionality. Third, by inventing new cities from the Ancient Greek and Roman ruins, Piranesi added new aesthetic value to antiquity, inviting viewers to not only appreciate the beauty of antiquity but also appreciate creativity. Fourth, only if architects break the rigorous rules, can new styles be invented and architectural evolution be pushed forward.
