Between the two, I would side with Didascalo. While I would agree with Protopiro’s assessment that there is a natural and inherent beauty in the plain, orderly, and austere I believe that limiting what can be considered beautiful to just that is limiting art more broadly. I’m inclined to default to Didascalo’s idea that the rules of ornamentation and aesthetics should be more free. allowing for a greater range of unique construction and art to be created. While there is certainly an upper limit to appropriate ornamentation, one should not limit the creation of experience of art through archaic rules.
