Some of the classical elements of Labrouste’s Bibliotheque Nationale are the almost vaulted rib like elements of the ceiling. There are also small volutes on top of the pillars and what look like pilasters. The more modern elements are iron that is used for the pillars and the roof which allowed for larger and more fantastical styles. It is also reminiscent of modern (for the time) train stations.
