Labrouste’s Bibliothèque Nationale uses cast iron on internal pillars for support of the structure while also showing ribbed vaulting on the dome like ceiling. You can also see the openwork on the ribbed vaulting which is a stylistic twist. The use of cast plate glass was added to the top of the domes to let in natural light. The use of ionic capitals is also another classical element of this piece.
