The classical elements featured in Labrouste’s Bibliothèque Nationale include the columns implementing ionic capitals and the inclusion of many domes, ribbed vaulting, and arcuated windows. With regards to the modern elements of Labrouste’s Bibliothèque Nationale, cast iron was used on columns and windows in order to complement their desire of proportions through significant ornamentation. Cast Iron and Plaster were two elements that were manipulated in order to achieve a sense of modernism.
