Labrouste’s famous work, The Biblotheque Nationale, is a Beaux Art style building that was developed using both classical and modern architecture during the First Industrial Revolution. The building was structured using a very light but strong framework made out of cast iron rather than stone. Through the use of this material among others, Labrouste was able to differ the structure’s style from classical buildings by making it unproportioned. Biblotheque Nationale also had nine dome s made from terractotta tile. From a classical perspective, Labrouste still incorporated ribbed vaults inspired by the Gothic Period as well as volutes on the columns from the Ionic order.
