Labrouste’s Bibliothgeque Nationale is an example of a Beaux Art style building. The building incorporated classical finishing which was typical of the Beaux Art movement. Likewise, symmetry and new technology were used to advance the construction of such buildings. One new technology mentioned in class was the use of cast iron for domes and arches. Labrouste also drew inspiration from train stations when designing the building. He believed that the way light interacted with train stations was beautiful and highly functional.
