Labrouste’s Bibliothèque Nationale uses classical column shapes but uses modern material cast iron. Therefore, the columns can be made much thinner. It has classical domes with oculi on it but uses modern material terracotta tile. Since the rib is made of iron, it has modern open work on it, which makes it look lighter. Bibliothèque Nationale also has classical romanesque icons.
