Describe the Beaux-Arts style by comparing Palais Garnier with another work from Classical Greece, Classical Rome, the Renaissance, or the Baroque.
Some elements of the Palais Garnier, specific to its time period include the double grand staircase, oeil-de-boeuf which are elliptical/circular windows with figures, overly complex ornamentation with festoons and cartouches, roof details such as antefix pieces. One noticeable and stunning characteristic of the Palais is the crown shaped dome. In comparison to classical Greek or Roman works such as the Parthenon or Pantheon, the Palais Garnier also incorporates arcuation along the façade and classical style columns with fluting and composite capitals. The Palais Garnier also has somewhat of a frieze with reliefs of people in motion, as does the Parthenon.
