Comparing the Palais Garnier to the Greek Parthenon, both celebrate the arts of Classical Antiquity. However, Palais Garnier is representative of the Beaux-Arts movement through its heavy use of sculptural accents. Looking closer one can notice the festoons and pilasters, along with the precise detail to symmetry. The Parthenon is far more austere, utilizing trabeation while the opera house uses more arcuation. This can also be seen through the Oeil-de-Boeuf windows, another sculptural element. Both buildings incorporate the fluting on the columns, but the Parthenon includes the ionic order compared to the corinthian in the Palais Garnier.
