The Palais Garnier is a very iconic Beaux-Arts style building. This opera house is located in Paris and has a lot of similarities to other style we have studied. A building it resembles in my opinion is the Roman Pantheon. Both structures have columns that have composite capitals at the top. The Pantheon is very focused on symmetry, while the Palais Garnier embodies many styles and does not focus on this. Both structures also have a significant amount of ornamentation, however the Palais Garnier carries its ornamentation up to the cornice, while Pantheon stops at the frieze.
