The Palais Garnier is a significant Beaux-Arts style building. As an opera house, the building is highly ornamented and has many Neoclassical elements such as the festoons and cartouches in its facade, as well as the oeil-de-boeuf windows made popular in the Baroque. In comparison to the works from Ancient Rome, such as the Pantheon, the Palais Garnier is symmetrical, incorporates the arcuation technique, and has classical columns with fluting and composite capitals as well. But in contrast, the Pantheon is more austere and less ornamented compare to the Palais Garnier.
