Week 9 Response

The Palais Garnier is a perfect example of Beaux Arts architecture. The building is covered in sculptural elements and is very symmetrical in its arcuation on the left and right corners. In comparison, the Ospedale degli Innocenti in Florence of the Renaissance period is much less elaborate. The building is simple, with mathematically designed arcuation and simplistic ratios. The contrast between the two is obvious immediately upon looking at them side by side.
