The Palais Garnier is one of the most important buildings of the Beaux Arts, and obviously has many of the key elements of this time. The Beaux Arts was influenced by many other time periods and movements including the Baroque. A building from that period that I find to be quite similar to Palais Garnier is the Church of the Gesu. Both are relatively simple in structure, symmetrical, basic, and both of these buildings also use coupled columns. Another aspect that is similar and while the Palais Garnier is much more extreme in this both buildings are highly decorative and utilize ornamentation as well as sculptural accents.
