The Palais Garnier embraces the Beaux-arts style with its flat roof in the front, mixture of classical motifs, heavy-looking first floor, and neoclassical details. It is similar to the San Carlo Alle Quattro Fontane from the Baroque Period. These two works are similar because their facades are both centered around symmetry and they both have extensive use of sculptural accents, like figures near the entrances. They also both include engaged columns in the facades and have similar details like Borromini’s oval and circles. However, they are different in grandeur and scale. The Palais Garnier is much larger and has more extensive detail. The San Carlo Alle Quattro Fontane focuses more around religion and contains features like cartouches, that are symbolic.
