I will compare the Palais Garnier with The Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées. The buildings are both characteristic of French architectural history. The Palais Garnier is much more decorative than the Grand Palais. The gold cladding on top of the Palais Garnier is symbolistic of its style and function as a opera house and ballroom. The Grand Palais today is used as a museum.
