The Palais Garnier is the most quintessential representation of the Beux-Arts style, which is regarded as a subsection of Neo-classicism. On the first glance, I find it has a high resemblance to the Santa Maria delta Pace from the Renaissance, as both architecture strangely integrate Greek post-lintel system over Roman arcade system, and focus on the symmetry, except the ground floor of Palais Garnier, while been also rusticated, seems to be squeezed by the main floor.Also, comparing to Santa Maria delta’s plain, undecorated appearance, the Palasis Garnier seems to be overly ornamented with precious materials.
