Out of Le Corbusier’s 5 points of architecture, the one that appeals to me the most is the fifth point, which is the roof garden. It is very easy to lose sight of nature in large cities, and the roof garden allows cities to grow vertically without completely eliminating the element of nature and gardens. While cities have parks (Central Park in NYC), they are often constricted to a certain area, but the roof garden can expand this element of nature far beyond the designated park area. Furthermore, the roof garden is a great plan to create a function for the roof, and it allows the building to almost “steal” an extra story of usable space.
